Our Story

A Name Born
from Melville

When Herman Melville wrestled with what to call his great novel, he considered Moby Dick; or, The Whale. We chose the road less taken — and it suits us perfectly. or, The Whale is an approachable yet refined bistro, bar, and outdoor patio, set in a storied building right on Main Street.

Led by Jamie Lee Nass, Emily Kelly, and Chef Manny Rojas — alongside Sandbar owners Nick Nass and George Kelly — we celebrate the seasons through menus that change with the tides and a spirit rooted in Nantucket community.
